Trickle down Wiggins Effect reaches Olympic crooks
Reader's Meltdown: My Cycling Hell
Empty (Pic: johngodley.com) |
Meltdown reader Mr M Cousins sent us this outrageous story of mid-level inconvenience.
Trying to get home to the Wandsworth Bridge Road on Saturday afternoon from Fulham Broadway tube station, I was unable to do so because of the men’s cycling.
The roads were effectively empty (sporadic interruptions from the cyclists). However, I was unable to walk across the road or to a higher / lower point because the entire length of the Fulham Road (from Putney to Knightsbridge) was closed off.
I had no idea that getting back home from the tube station was a minority right. Police were most unhelpful (we have no idea when you cross the road). Stewards were facetious (“How long is a piece of string?”, said one). I was livid.
The Olympic Meltdown says: "Get a grip Stewart. It doesn't matter how long a piece of string is when you're at THE END OF YOUR TETHER. Our hearts go out to you Mr Cousins at this time of inconvenience."
